This chapter will explore how faculty can use the Upstate Bias Checklist to address content bias in simulations. Readers will be able to: This chapter shows that all curricular materials—including simulation—are influenced by biases. By using a systematic tool for assessing and mitigating bias, educators at varying points along the spectrum of awareness, understanding, and application of equity, diversity, inclusion and justice (EDIJ) principles might understand bias in medical education and its impact on healthcare delivery in a safe, nonpunitive learning environment where feedback is framed as growth-oriented.
