Health disparities are largely due to structural inequities in healthcare in the United States of America. Racial health disparities are staggering, and the approach to achieving health equity must be multifaceted. This includes advocating for structural change and working to change behavior in health systems and medical education. This chapter outlines how innovative technology can be leveraged to advance the aims of health equity. We will review current technology, its contemporary uses in medical education, and the results of a virtual reality workshop that was piloted at Northwell Health and the Zucker School of Medicine at Northwell/Hofstra.
