Enhancing Interprofessional Healthcare Simulation to Address the Needs of All Patient Populations
摘要
This chapter explores the dynamic setting of interprofessional simulation-based education, highlighting its role in promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles within healthcare training. Effective strategies in recruiting standardized patients with diverse backgrounds are discussed, emphasizing the critical foundation for immersive learning experiences. As a bridge between theory and practice, this chapter presents three real-world examples: Interprofessional Day events, the character “Mateo” and his family experiencing the impact of social determinants of health, and antibias in healthcare videos. These initiatives exemplify the successful integration of EDI principles into interprofessional education, equipping future healthcare professionals with the skills to deliver holistic, equitable, and patient-centered care.
