Key Drivers of Sustainable Development in Asia

This chapter examines the key drivers of sustainable development in Asia by analyzing the impact of financial inclusion, technological innovation, and renewable energy on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across 48 Asian countries from 2010 to 2019. Unlike traditional approaches that focus on CO2 equivalents, this research utilizes total GHG emissions for a more comprehensive assessment. Applying the Spatial Durbin Model with Fixed Effects, the findings indicate that financial inclusion, technological innovation, and renewable energy play a crucial role in reducing GHG emissions. Moreover, the adoption of renewable energy in neighboring countries has a significant influence on a nation’s emission levels. These insights provide valuable contributions to the promotion of financial inclusion, technological advancement, and renewable energy adoption in Asian economies, offering key implications for both policymakers and enterprises.
