Impact Assessment of Traditional Justice Systems on Peacebuilding and Governance: Northern Nigeria in Perspective
摘要
The role of traditional justice systems in promoting peacebuilding and effective governance in conflict-affected regions of Africa has been a subject of growing interest among scholars and policymakers. Northern Nigeria, a region that has grappled with protracted conflicts and security challenges, presents a compelling case study to examine the interplay between traditional justice mechanisms and the quest for sustainable peace and development. Traditional justice systems have long played a crucial role in conflict resolution and peacebuilding in many parts of the world, including Northern Nigeria (Bulus et al., 2020). These systems, rooted in the cultural and social norms of local communities, often offer alternative dispute-resolution mechanisms that complement formal legal structures. This research paper aims to assess the impact of traditional justice systems on peacebuilding and governance in Northern Nigeria, providing insights into their effectiveness and challenges.
