Make an IMPECT on the Dancefloor!: An Immersive Learning Environment for the Development of Dance Choreography Skills
摘要
Immersive training toolkits facilitate the creation of virtual learning environments by integrating interactive game elements and learning materials to enhance the learning experience. While these toolkits have been widely adopted in classroom settings, their potential for non-formal educational settings (e.g. psychomotor skills training) remains largely unexplored. Developing immersive learning environments (ILEs) for psychomotor skills training is a complex and time-intensive process. This paper presents IMPECT-Dance, an ILE system designed to support the training of individual dance choreography psychomotor skills. IMPECT-Dance is built upon the existing IMPECT training toolkit. This toolkit comprises the IMPECT-Dance Frontend, which serves as the user interface, and the IMPECT-Server, which manages learning sessions. In addition, IMPECT-Dance also includes the Motion Analysis component, a Python-based application that tracks users’ joint skeleton angles, compares them to expert movements, and delivers corrective feedback when errors are detected.
