Morphology and Taxonomy of Lantana camara: An Overview

Lantana camara, known commonly as lantana, is a tropical flowering plant native to the Americas. It is part of the Verbenaceae family and has gained notoriety as an invasive species in many places around the globe. It’s a successful adaptation to various ecological niches because its morphological features make it both a pretty garden ornamental and a troublesome invader. In this chapter, the taxonomy, morphological characteristics, and how these attributes contribute to the extent of spreading by Lantana camara as well as its ecological impact are discussed.
