In this paper we consider the balance between different maintenance concepts and fleet operations and how this balance may vary depending on the operational requirements and the operating environment. Practical limitations and constraints are discussed together with the ways in which different maintenance concepts might be used together to increase fleet availability without increasing maintenance costs. Finally, the paper describes the way in which it is hoped to apply these findings to support future railway fleet management and operations.

摘要

In this paper we consider the balance between different maintenance concepts and fleet operations and how this balance may vary depending on the operational requirements and the operating environment. Practical limitations and constraints are discussed together with the ways in which different maintenance concepts might be used together to increase fleet availability without increasing maintenance costs. Finally, the paper describes the way in which it is hoped to apply these findings to support future railway fleet management and operations.
