Understanding Human-Data Interaction
摘要
Envision people interacting with a complex dataset, not by clicking and scrolling, but by walking through it, reaching for data points, and sweeping aside irrelevant information. Using gestures and body movements to interact with data visualizations is at the core of Human-Data Interaction (HDI). In this chapter, we explain how human-data interaction is strongly rooted in interaction design and embodied interaction. We then introduce a key definition for understanding data interaction in informal learning settings: organic HDI. Organic HDI describes situations where users approach a data visualization without a pre-defined informational goal, engaging in a casual and exploratory manner. We discuss how the casual nature of this interaction significantly impacts the sensemaking process.
