Green Industrialization and Energy Policy: Leveraging the Energy-Industry Nexus
摘要
This chapter explores the potential of green industrialization, driven by clean energy policies, as a transformative pathway for sustainable development in Africa. It examines how investments in renewable energy infrastructure have yielded gains in industrial productivity and economic activity. Drawing on case studies from South Africa, Nigeria, and Ethiopia, the chapter highlights how targeted policy tools such as feed-in tariffs, renewable energy auctions, green financing instruments, and energy efficiency regulations are shaping Africa’s green industrial landscape. The findings underscore the importance of strategic policy alignment, stakeholder coordination, and innovative financing mechanisms, including public–private partnerships and Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) models, in driving the continent’s energy transition. The chapter concludes with policy recommendations emphasizing the need for integrated national development plans, institutional reforms, and enhanced investment in green infrastructure to enable sustainable industrial growth in Africa.
