Moreover, the uninterrupted connection enabled by these platforms has fundamentally transformed social interactions, completely overhauled marketing tactics, and additionally established enhanced opportunities for interaction. A study carried out in 2020 found that over 50% of the global population actively engages with social media platforms. This trend is expected to continue growing as internet services become more accessible and affordable. Regrettably, the current prevalence of users on social media platforms has both advantages and disadvantages. These challenges encompassed security and data privacy concerns arising from authentication system issues. Therefore, the current research seeks to examine the intricate domain of authenticating social media online and mobile applications. To accomplish this, the study will specifically address the difficulties associated with preserving user privacy and convenience, while also ensuring secure access to user accounts. This study aims to further the development of social media authentication systems by analysing current procedures, detecting vulnerabilities, and assessing technology.
