This chapter connects the previous discussions on development and ethics to the popular theory of authentic leadership. It critically reviews the established social-scientific models, arguing that their conceptualization of authenticity and its link to ethics is insufficient. Building on philosophical insights, particularly from a Kantian perspective, the chapter redefines authenticity as a continuous process of self-authentication. This process is grounded in a moral conscience that is fundamentally interactional, not introspective, and finds its expression in a social context defined by tolerance and transparency.

摘要

This chapter connects the previous discussions on development and ethics to the popular theory of authentic leadership. It critically reviews the established social-scientific models, arguing that their conceptualization of authenticity and its link to ethics is insufficient. Building on philosophical insights, particularly from a Kantian perspective, the chapter redefines authenticity as a continuous process of self-authentication. This process is grounded in a moral conscience that is fundamentally interactional, not introspective, and finds its expression in a social context defined by tolerance and transparency.
