This chapter presents middleware prototypes addressing challenges in military IoT applications, particularly in dynamic humanitarian assistance/disaster relief (HADR) scenarios. Multi-domain AsynchRonous Gateway Of Things (MARGOT), a federated gateway, enables the discovery of IoT resources across disrupted networks using multiple agents and federation services. The SPF platform utilizes the Value of Information (VoI) concept and an Adaptive, Information-centric, Value-based (AIV) model for adaptive data processing and resource management in resource-scarce fog/edge environments. These prototypes address issues such as interoperability, service discovery, data deluge, and network limitations, evaluating commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) computing platforms for military suitability.

摘要
