This chapter surveys military scenarios that could benefit from Internet of Things (IoT). Key domains include civil-military cooperation (CIMIC), leveraging smart cities for public safety and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR); smart military bases, optimizing deployment, monitoring, and sustainability; enhanced logistics and predictive maintenance; smart healthcare for personnel monitoring and triage; and advanced reconnaissance via unmanned aerial and ground systems. It examines the integration of custom, commercial off the shelf (COTS), bring your own device (BYOD), and civilian IoT. While detailing the benefits enabled by fog computing, AI, and sensors, the chapter highlights the significant cybersecurity risks, data management complexities, and usability challenges inherent to the adoption of military IoT.
