A New Global Environment and Turkish Foreign Policy Analysis
摘要
This chapter examines Turkish foreign policy (TFP) within the context of an increasingly complex and turbulent international system. It traces the interplay between global trends and Turkey’s evolving domestic political landscape. The chapter outlines how the consolidation of power under President Erdoğan and the AKP has reshaped Turkey’s foreign policy orientation towards greater assertiveness and revisionism, particularly since the failed 2016 coup. Employing multiple theoretical perspectives, the analysis emphasizes the importance of integrating systemic, state, and individual levels of analysis to fully understand TFP’s drivers and trajectories. The chapter concludes by reflecting on the enduring challenges for both scholars and policymakers in navigating the evolving dynamics of TFP amid ongoing global and domestic transformations.
