This chapter examines the practices of businesses in Uganda concerning the protection of women’s rights who often experience a disproportionate risk of human rights abuses because of their gender. The chapter analyses the current legal landscape concerning businesses while identifying relevant stakeholder rights and responsibilities for the protection of women’s rights. An assessment of the performance of businesses in the country on human rights issues, with particular attention to their ability to safeguard the rights of women is made. Finally, the chapter makes recommendations for actions necessary to ensure the effective implementation of human rights standards by businesses operating in Uganda while highlighting the role of businesses in protecting the rights of women, as well as the broader coverage of business and human rights.
