Origins of Neurofocal Dentistry
摘要
This chapter aims to answer the question about how neurofocal dentistry conceptually emerges, identifies the decision criteria in the development of neurofocal dentistry, and ends with a brief review of the history of neurofocal dentistry in Colombia. The three initial conceptual elements that explain the relationships between the stomatognathic system and the systemic conditions that constitute the initial foundations of neurofocal dentistry are identified: the close relationship with the neural therapy developed in Germany, the concept of odonton from electroacupuncture, and the interactions of Pischinger’s basic system. Four stages are identified in the decision-making criteria: tooth extraction, biological compatibility, integrative dentistry, and minimally invasive dentistry. The historical review highlights the actors, facts, and trends that marked the course of neurofocal dentistry in Colombia. The knowledge developed in Russia, Germany, England, and Latin America from Colombia, Brazil, and Argentina, among others, has allowed the growth and advancement in the understanding of neurofocal dentistry, considering the knowledge and postulates of other complex medical systems and therapies of diverse origin, as well as the technical and technological developments in devices, materials, and procedures from dentistry.
