The Alpine Convention has set itself the task of protecting and sustainably developing the Alps. Eight thematic protocols define its implementation closer. Various working groups undertake activities to fulfil these objectives. One of these working groups deals intensively with the topic of soil protection in the Alps. After a brief introduction to the Alpine Convention in general, this ‘Soil Protection Working Group’ and its composition, working methods, recommendations, and the implementation of its work programme will be discussed in more detail. The working group is currently chaired by Austria.
