Glass Design Aspects
摘要
This Chapter covers various aspects that are important for designing glass components and structures. After an introduction in Sect. 9.1, general safety concepts and the salient features of current glass design standards used in different countries (including the European glass code CEN/TS 19100 “Design of glass structures”) are described in Sect. 9.2. This is followed by key aspects, which have been addressed at a fundamental level in previous chapters, and are here implemented in practical engineering design contexts. In particular: designing with time dependent strength; designing with temperature-induced and deflection-induced loading; designing for blast and impact loading and structural analysis of plates, see Sects. 9.3, 9.4, 9.5 and 9.6, respectively. Also the design of specific glass components, including laminated glass and insulating glass units are discussed, including a section on edge protection, see Sects. 9.7, 9.8 and 9.9, respectively. Finally, Section 9.10 provides an insight and some design guidance on the environmental sustainability of glass.
