Relevance of Stakeholders to Acquisitions
摘要
Acquisitions impact a wide array of stakeholders beyond just the acquiring and acquired firms. Research often examines associated stakeholders in isolation, but we integrate associated research to develop the need to consider them in combination. This begins with understanding the relationships of an acquiring firm with the primary stakeholders, or advisors, investors, suppliers, customers, competitors, employees in both firms and broader society, as well as ecosystems. We highlight the roles these stakeholders play for completed acquisitions in shaping acquisition outcomes and the reciprocal influences that emerge during acquisition processes. By adopting a stakeholder-centric perspective, we emphasize the importance of recognizing and managing the complex web of relationships that influence acquisition success. We also identify research needs and offer practical guidance for managers aiming to create value for multiple stakeholder groups.
