This chapter is about the global challenges in dementia care and the impact this has on millions of people living with dementia and their families/caregivers worldwide. The pressures associated with providing adequate care, support, and research funding for governments, healthcare systems, and communities continue to increase. This is complicated by the ongoing disparities associated with delays in diagnosis and treatment for people living with dementia, as well as the cultural differences relating to how the disorder is perceived. This has implications on global efforts that ensure that people living with dementia receive the support they require at the right time, in the right place, on the right pathway and with the right support.
