Designing environments for people living with dementia is an important aspect of maintaining well-being within care settings. There has been much debate relating to what constitutes a dementia care environment and whether current dementia care settings adequately reflect the needs of people living with dementia This article explores some of the key issues in relation to dementia care environments, and will highlight the importance of how the environment should enable, rather than disable people living with dementia.
