Framing the Governance of Fusion Energy Development and Diffusion as a PIT: The Role of Commissions
摘要
As can be seen throughout this volume, we are promoting the use of an international commission of inquiry, the Global Commission to Accelerate Fusion Energy (GCAFE), as a vehicle to accelerate the arrival of fusion energy as a values-driven public interest technology (PIT). This recommendation of a values-driven international commission is for multiple reasons. Importantly, it is replicable across different levels of government, in that once fusion arrives, existing and new commissions at the federal, state and city level, or in the United Kingdom, at the level of devolved governments, will consider the potential of fusion, in the form of its advantages and disadvantages, almost certainly from a values-driven perspective.
