The chapter is opened by a discussion of the existing attempts to taxonomise ecological emotions (or to make sense of their multiplicity). My argument is that the vague and varied contours of the existing lists may not be accidental. These are different emotions but not discrete; they can overlap and blend. The nature of their multiplicity is characterised using Wittgenstein’s notion of “family”.
