Social work has a dual role as a field of science and a profession which means that social work education needs to stay close and updated within both research and practice. Therefore, novel and different ways to understand the world and the people who live in it are always in demand for social work professionals. This book aims to present some of the contemporary issues that create an effect, and which affect social work education by, for example, unpacking the Western knowledge base in other parts of the world, addressing the role that social workers play in seeking to influence policies, the importance of teaching the history of social work and portraying the use of critical pedagogy in social work education.
