Digital inclusion is fundamental to ensure that all people, regardless of their abilities, can access and benefit from digital technologies, especially in inclusive education, where Assistive Technologies (AT) are key for learning and participation of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Guided by the central research question—What strategies should be adopted in a transmedia campaign to effectively promote digital inclusion and the use of AT for children with SEN?—this study developed a multichannel campaign to promote digital inclusion and the importance of AT. Using a qualitative method, the study explored practices and perceptions related to inclusive digital communication and the use of AT in educational contexts. The methodology unfolded in three stages: (i) an analysis of best practices in inclusive digital communication; (ii) semi-structured interviews with AT specialists from an Information and Communication Technology Resource Centre; and (iii) campaign development and implementation. The first phase was a qualitative content analysis of campaigns on social media which identified effective strategies. In the second phase, interviews data was subjected to thematic analysis, providing important information on the role of AT in schools. These findings guided the creation of content showing how AT supports inclusive education. The campaign, based on the findings of the first two stages, was disseminated on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, for their broad reach and engagement potential. The contents created included: three explanatory videos on AT use in educational settings and static posts featuring ATs like braille lines, cochlear implants, and keyboard/mouse alternatives. This combination enabled effective dissemination of informative and engaging content. This campaign aimed to raise awareness and promote digital inclusion, reflecting participants’ perceptions. The study highlights the importance of effective and inclusive communication and demonstrates how combining best practices with qualitative data can support the development of communication strategies that foster awareness and equity.

摘要
