The Contribution of Religion(s) to Education for Sustainable Development
摘要
In view of the ecological crisis and the enormous need for socio-ecological transformation, public education is increasingly challenged to prepare students for a completely open future. For students, the challenges are great: traditional knowledge, skills, and leading narratives are becoming partially obsolete and the transformations are causing anxiety and sometimes hopelessness. This paper explores the role of religion(s) in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and discusses the contribution that religion(s) can make to providing students with orientation in the ecological crisis, enabling them to develop ecologically sustainable visions of the future and to reflect on values for a socio-ecologically transformed society.
