Regenerative Religious Education for the World in a Time of Crisis
摘要
Facing unprecedented existential threat including ecological and climate breakdown and social, economic, and political instability, humanity has reached a time where conscious regeneration of landscapes, habitats, and ecologies are required. Education has contributed to this lack of care for each other and the earth, driven by economic motives. A proposal for a regenerative education is made and the part of religion in that, where religion is understood in relation to existence and not only beliefs and practices. An exemplification of what teaching a regenerative religious education might look like is offered, how teachers can bring children to attend, to intellectual engagement and discernment, whilst recognising the necessity of wider education system change. What is needed is a change of heart, guidance for which wisdom from the world’s religious traditions has something important to offer.
