Sustainable Backup and Recovery Practices in Cybersecurity
摘要
The increasing reliance on digital infrastructure for critical operations has elevated the importance of backup and recovery systems, yet their environmental impact is often overlooked. This paper addresses the intertwined challenges of cybersecurity resilience and sustainability in backup and recovery practices. Traditional data protection approaches consume significant energy and resources, resulting in inefficiencies and increased carbon emissions. This work explores sustainable practices to address these issues, including data deduplication, compression, tiered storage, and energy-efficient cloud-based solutions. The integration of renewable energy sources and optimized lifecycle management further demonstrates the potential to reduce the environmental footprint of backup systems. Through case studies, the paper highlights real-world examples of organizations implementing eco-friendly strategies to achieve robust data protection while aligning with sustainability goals. The paper emphasizes the importance of businesses adopting green data protection strategies that enhance operational resilience and promote environmental stewardship.
