The consolidation solution with cellular mattresses made of geosynthetic materials has been successfully applied in areas with soft soils and with a very high deformability, especially to ensure stability and to satisfy the requirements of bearing capacity and differentiated settlement of high embankments. It allows a faster construction; it is not necessary to excavate the weak foundation soil and controlling the differential settlement of the future embankment. This method successfully uses geosynthetic materials, geogrids, to form a cellular mattress with a height between 0.50–2.00 m depending on the characteristics of the support material and the loads.
