The paper provides a review of the papers highlighting the use of geosynthetic materials in Romania. All proceedings of the Romanian Conferences on Geotechnical and Foundation Engineering were analyzed, starting with the second edition in 1971 (the first edition did not publish a volume of presented papers), the volumes of the Romanian Symposium on Geosynthetics (GeoSint 2002 and 2007), as well as other publications. With the first paper published in 1975 on the use of reinforced soil in retaining structures - even though the work involved metal strips - it can be observed that geosynthetic materials have been widely used in Romania since the 1980s. However, many studies and presentations focus on geosynthetic materials, while case studies are not sufficiently revealed by technical publications.
