This chapter covers the importance of international collaborations of sustainable land management practices in Asia. The Asian continent, in its rich variety of ecosystems, also has specific environmental challenges: deforestation and land degradation resulting in biodiversity loss. All these problems pose a serious threat to livelihoods, food security, and climate resilience. Examining such initiatives—possibly most important ones to emerge through countries working to address with, at least five different sets of legal frameworks, mechanisms, and policies and presently available in the world, i.e., the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a few regional environmental agreements, cross-border conservation project—is the focus of this chapter. The chapter also reiterates the role of local communities, indigenous knowledge, and technological innovations in the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives. It summarizes with a chapter on actions implemented via regional collaboration, policy alignment, and knowledge sharing paving ways to mass awareness. Thus, regional cooperation, policy alignments, and knowledge sharing among the practitioners are crucial for preserving life on land under Asian context scenarios.

摘要
