The Problem of Risk and Uncertainty in Maternity Care for Those in Prison
摘要
In this chapter, the lived experiences of pregnant women detained in prisons in the UK are presented, showing that for some groups of pregnant women structural and material inequality remains a critical problem. We propose that understandings of risk and uncertainty will remain incomplete without attention to how the structures of material inequality continue to disadvantage some more than others, shaping their experience of risk and uncertainty in pregnancy and birth.
