In this chapter I shall examine in detail the mathematical investigations of Bernard Bolzano (1781–1848) into geometrical concepts relating to dimension—investigations that spanned his entire career. Theywere concentrated around his quest for what he deemed to be better and more precise or ‘rigorous’ definitions of the geometrical concepts of line, surface, solid, and extension.
