Selection and Feasibility of Target Components for SLS Manufacturing
摘要
The paper shows that SLS technology can be used to make high quality components with complex geometries and functional prototypes from powdered materials with the desired physical mechanical characteristics. The tests were conducted on the target components which represented standard specimens for the determination of the physical and mechanical parameters (tensile strength, bending strength and Charpy impact energy) and which were made from PA 12 using SLS process. The high values of the physical and mechanical parameters make it possible to use components made of PA 12 by SLS printing for the production of critical parts. The paper presents the calculation of the strength characteristics in SolidWorks software environment for fabrication of a ferrule from PA 12 using SLS process. It describes the key features regarding the selection of the materials and printing conditions. The paper shows the efficiency of additive manufacturing technologies as compared with the traditional ones for production of automotive components.
