Assessing language comprehension in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) presents unique challenges, especially when relying on traditional testing methods. This paper introduces an innovative VR-based system designed to address these challenges by creating an engaging, distraction-free environment. The system uses low-cost mobile VR headsets and tracks a range of behavioral metrics to assess language comprehension through gaze direction and response time. Preliminary findings from a small sample of children with ASD suggest that the VR platform increases engagement, enhances focus, and provides more consistent results compared to traditional methods. This paper outlines the potential of VR for both assessment and therapeutic interventions, with plans for future work aimed at validating these results on a larger scale and developing automated diagnostic and rehabilitation tools.
