The world has witnessed a technological revolution that has reflected its shadow on all economic sectors. The widespread use of technology has led to the production of a set of financial tools that have led to the development of the banking industry. This has prompted banks to benefit from financial technology in providing a set of financial innovations to provide advanced banking services to their customers. The use of artificial intelligence tools represents a revolution in the field of banking, as it can analyze huge amounts of data with great speed and accuracy. This study aims to demonstrate the impact of banks’ use of artificial intelligence (AI) in adopting strategies to achieve competitive advantages (cost leadership, differentiation, or focus). The study information was collected through personal interviews with 15 banking figures in Egypt. The interviews showed a mixture of agreement and disagreement in the answers based on the professional roles of the participants, as most participants agreed that a balanced mix of strategies supports competitive advantages. But at other times, the cost leadership strategy supports the provision of some banking services, but sometimes the differentiation strategy must be used in providing some services, and the focus strategy must be used for some banking services to improve competitiveness. At the same time, interviews with risk-oriented roles, such as compliance and risk managers, highlighted potential pitfalls, emphasizing the importance of maintaining robust risk management and regulatory compliance frameworks. Overall, the bank must carefully assess the trade-offs of each strategy, using quantitative models and pilot programs to determine the most sustainable and impactful approach. This ensures not only short-term growth but also long-term resilience in an increasingly competitive market.
