Specific estimates of incidence and prevalence of intermittent claudication are more obscure, largely owing to the greater difficulty in teasing out the specific diagnosis. The most widely used measurement tools are described, and the findings of the studies that employed them are also presented. Trends over time and across the globe are discussed.
