Heat Index and Urban Dâmbovita River Temperature Nexus
摘要
The paper examines the characteristics of the heatwaves that occurred in Bucharest City, Romania, during the last three years. Data consisted in hourly air temperature and humidity retrieved from Open Weather and water temperature measured hourly at the exit of Dambovita River from Bucharest with bluetooth loggers. The heatwaves were defined using Matlab and the Thermal Heat Index (THI) was computed. Correlations between hourly air temperature and humidity were carried out for the obtained heatwaves. Temperature and relative humidity corresponding to the time of daily maximum heat index were classified according to threshold values of THI specified by other authors. Furthermore, the study aims to identify the nexus between THI and air temperature with water temperature of Dambovita River. The lag time between air and water daily maxima was identified.
