Echocardiography in Trauma
摘要
Trauma is one of the most common causes of death in ages under 40 years. However, patients with cardiovascular injuries following trauma can survive if diagnosed and treated appropriately. Cardiac trauma can be categorized as penetrating and blunt trauma. ECG, cardiac troponin, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography are valuable tools in the setting of cardiac trauma and provide rapid and accurate diagnosis in most patients. Blunt trauma is a frequent one in which the mortality depends on the severity and location of damage and ranges from a minor contusion to the rupture of the myocardium, septum, heart valves and myocardial infarction.
