In patients presenting with chest pain, transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) can provide valuable information such as ventricular function, regional wall motion abnormalities, the extent of the infarct, mechanical complications following ST-Segment myocardial infarction (STEMI) and nonischemic causes of chest pain, particularly with the availability of bedside or hand-held devices. However, in the setting of the STEMI with typical clinical presentation, we should follow the STEMI guidelines, and performing an echocardiogram should not delay the reperfusion therapy.

摘要

In patients presenting with chest pain, transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) can provide valuable information such as ventricular function, regional wall motion abnormalities, the extent of the infarct, mechanical complications following ST-Segment myocardial infarction (STEMI) and nonischemic causes of chest pain, particularly with the availability of bedside or hand-held devices. However, in the setting of the STEMI with typical clinical presentation, we should follow the STEMI guidelines, and performing an echocardiogram should not delay the reperfusion therapy.
