Early Childhood Education Through an Artificial Intelligence Lens – A Practical Guide to Enhance Learning Outcomes
摘要
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising early childhood education (ECE) by providing tools that personalise learning experiences, enhance educational outcomes, and support educators in delivering customised content. This chapter explores AI’s transformative potential in ECE, using case scenarios to highlight improvements in five critical areas: fostering identity, building a positive self-image, promoting social adeptness, enhancing communication skills, and nurturing positive attitudes towards learning. Grounded in the context of Malta’s Learning Outcomes Framework (LOF), which prioritises holistic child development through well-defined learning outcomes. This chapter provides a scalable model adaptable to global educational contexts by aligning various case scenarios with the LOF. Methodologically, it combines an analysis of possible AI tools with practical strategies rooted in educational best practices. This chapter concludes by discussing emerging current trends and future prospects of AI in ECE, highlighting the potential for further advancements and integrations. Reflective questions are integrated to guide educators in incorporating AI into their teaching practices, fostering a deeper engagement with the content. Serving as a resource for educators, curriculum designers, and policymakers, this chapter delivers strategies and insights for responsibly adopting AI in ECE.
