Tobacco Dependence Treatment and Lung Cancer Control
摘要
This chapter will focus on cigarette smoking as a major cause of lung cancer and as a modifiable risk factor that can be treated by clinicians across the cancer prevention, early screening, diagnostic, and cancer treatment continuum of care. While there are numerous ways to deliver tobacco treatment across the lung cancer care continuum, nurse navigators and other allied healthcare clinicians are well positioned to collaborate with patients by complementing primary care physicians, specialists, and other clinicians in multidisciplinary teams. We will use the socio-ecological model to examine critical multi-level barriers and facilitators involving integrating tobacco treatment into lung cancer control. This chapter will provide an overview of evidence-based practices involving patient-, clinician-, and systems-level barriers and facilitators. A case report will illustrate clinical pearls of tobacco treatment for busy practitioners. Finally, we will provide key readings and resources for further review.
