Modern maritime transport faces growing demands in terms of cargo monitoring, fleet management, and ensuring safety. This paper presents the potential use of LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) technology as an innovative long-range wireless communication solution in the maritime sector. Based on the analysis of WSN, WLAN, and WWAN systems, as well as the implementation of an experimental LoRaWAN network, key application opportunities for this technology in real maritime conditions are highlighted. The paper also discusses the integration of sensor systems with IoT platforms such as ThingsBoard and presents a network architecture that enables remote real-time cargo monitoring.
