Families are a critical component of youth development, and family–school partnerships contribute to positive academic, behavioral, and social–emotional outcomes for youth. For emergent bilingual youth in particular, these partnerships have unique considerations related to the intersection of culture, language, and other dimensions of context. As school professionals aim to develop and implement equitable and inclusive MTSS structures, it is important to partner with families to foster positive outcomes for emergent bilingual youth. This chapter describes the context for family–school partnerships, describes conceptual frameworks for partnering with families of emergent bilingual youth (with an emphasis on developmental/ecological and critical/anti-oppressive theories), and connects family–school partnerships to MTSS within schools. This chapter also provides MTSS-focused recommendations for culturally responsive family–school partnership practices for emergent bilingual youth, with an emphasis on relationship-building and fostering equitable schools, collaborative decision-making in service delivery, and professional training and leadership for educators and staff.

摘要
