Ecological thought can take many forms and be claimed by very different political currents, ranging from the far left to the least democratic and most totalitarian far right. Similarly, philosophers have developed radically different conceptions of ecology. In this chapter, I try to produce an analysis grid of these different currents. I am particularly interested in the magical and esoteric conceptions of ecology and contemporary transhumanism and its naive belief that scientific progress will allow us to solve environmental problems without the need to question the economic ideology of the necessity and possibility of infinite growth.
