The Economy as a Destructive Force of the Planet
摘要
There is a perfect alignment, a complex form of integration and synergy between our economic objectives (at the individual, corporate, or state level) and our addiction to consumption. Every individual and human group is caught between our propensity to consume and the need for economic growth. The major difficulty faced by individuals and states is that economic competition makes any form of consumption reduction impossible. Economic growth is, in the short term, necessary for states, while it is lethal for humanity in the long term. It is therefore clear that the fundamental constraint weighing on each national economy is incompatible with the preservation of our planet.
