This chapter focuses on electronic fully integrated transmit and receive frontends and their building blocks, targeting ultra-broadband wireless communication systems operating at 300 GHz. Distinguishing between direct-conversion and heterodyne frontend architectures, several circuit-level non-idealities and signal impairments arising from the LO generation as well as the IF-to-RF conversion are discussed.
