The growing complexity of healthcare systems and medical information has created significant gaps in communication and understanding between patients and healthcare providers. This study explores how artificial intelligence (AI) can bridge this knowledge gap, empowering patients and enhancing healthcare delivery. Using a narrative approach, it reviews AI tools such as chatbots, virtual assistants, and personalized platforms, highlighting their role in improving patient education, communication, and healthcare efficiency. Key challenges, including health literacy variability, bias, and data privacy, are also discussed. The findings emphasize AI’s potential to empower patients and alleviate healthcare system pressures, provided its development remains ethical and inclusive.
