The VET Context in Italy: A Perspective on Teachers and Students
摘要
Innovation in Vocational and Educational Training (VET) is crucial to meet the needs of a changing socio-economic context. Through innovative teaching methods, VET aims to develop students’ social and professional skills, addressing the demand for skilled professionals (Cedefop in Innovation and training: partners in change, briefing note, 2015; Cedefop in Empowering teachers and trainers to manage change, 2022a). This study, based on action research (Barbier in La ricerca-azione, 2007), was conducted in collaboration with the vocational training centre in Bologna. The exploratory phase utilized focus groups, semi-structured interviews, and observations to identify needs, challenges, and strengths. The analysis highlighted critical issues in communication, collaboration, and role definition among professionals, along with the need for training in innovative teaching strategies. Interviews with students emphasised the importance of practical and inclusive learning environments. Targeted interventions, including teacher training and role clarification, were proposed to promote inclusive and career-oriented educational pathways. These efforts reinforce VET’s transformative role in preparing learners for the future world of work.
